Herbosa denies he is out of Marcos Cabinet
Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro Herbosa on Wednesday denied allegations that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is seeking to replace him amid issues hounding the health agency.
"There's no truth to that," Herbosa said in a Palace briefing, while clarifying that he is open to any possibility.
"We in the Cabinet all serve at the pleasure of the President. If ever the President wants to replace me, that is the prerogative of the President," he said.
The DOH remains committed to fulfilling the mandate of the Marcos administration, Herbosa said.
On Tuesday, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro downplayed reports on the alleged revamp in the Cabinet members of the administration.
However, Castro said the regular performance review of Cabinet members is still ongoing.
"Yes at sabi natin, we are making our performance at the discretion of the President. So depende na po 'yan sa makikita ng Pangulo,"she said.
"Pero as of now, wala pa pong nababalitaan at walang pinaparating na magkakaroon ng Cabinet revamp," she added.
(Yes and we said we are making our performance at the discretion of the President. So that depends on the decision of the President but as of now, we have no information on the alleged Cabinet revamp.)
It can be recalled that Marcos, in May 2025, asked for the courtesy resignations of Cabinet secretaries, to “recalibrate” his administration following the midterm elections.
Another shakeup hit the Marcos Cabinet in November, with the resignation of three high-ranking officials including former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, and ex-Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Adrian Bersamin likewise stepped down from his post.
