PAGASA: Cloudy skies, rain expected during Traslacion 2026; no LPA monitored

State weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday cloudy skies and occasional rain are expected during the Traslacion on Friday, January 9, but no low pressure area is being monitored.

(For those attending the Traslacion in Metro Manila, we recommend that you bring your umbrellas since there is occasional rain.)

(Generally, expect cloudy skies, especially in the morning through noon, with the early hours remaining a bit chilly.)

Currently, no low pressure area or storm is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The annual Traslacion commemorates the transfer of the image of Jesus Nazareno from Intramuros to its current home at Quiapo Church.

The National Capital Regional Police Office earlier said that they hope to reduce the procession time to around 10 to 12 hours, compared to last year's, which lasted over 20 hours.

Nazareno devotees were also reminded to follow the directives of Quiapo Church and authorities for a safe and orderly Traslacion.

Expected temperature drop

The temperature in Metro Manila is expected to decrease to around 18°C to 20°C this January,  Estareja said.

PAGASA logged 24.4°C in Metro Manila on Wednesday, while the coldest so far in 2026 is 20.7°C.

Meanwhile, Benguet is expected to reach a temperature of 8°C to 10°C.

(The Northeast Monsoon is expected to prevail until the first half of March.)
