Ombudsman Remulla asks NBI to probe social media 'falsehoods' about his health

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla has asked the National Bureau of Investigation to look into social media posts claiming that he was hospitalized.

In his first press conference for the year 2026, Remulla told reporters that those who peddled false information on his health last week already committed cyberlibel.

“Pinapaimbestigahan ko yan. Why? Oo, pinapaimbestigahan ko ‘yan kasi we've reached the limit of cyberlibel already. Kaya tignan natin kung saan pupunta,” Remulla told reporters.

(I am having this investigated. Why ... because we've reached the limit of cyberlibel already. Let's see where this goes.)

“I am asking the NBI to look into these allegations and scuttlebutt, kung saan nagmula sa social media (where on social media did it originate),” Remulla added.

Remulla also assured the public that he is healthy enough to perform his job.

“I work out everyday. I sleep early, I wake up early,” he said.

Asked why there are such peddlers of social media posts casting doubts on his health, Remulla replied that such efforts are part of the propaganda machine.

“An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. Wala tayong magagawa naghahanap sila ng iistoryahin. I came out of my radio program last Saturday but Sunday, meron na naman, tuloy na naman. Kaya makikita mo iyong bad faith,” Remulla said.

(An idle mind is the devil's workshop. We cannot do anything if they out seeking a story. I came out of my radio program last Saturday, but on Sunday, there were [news] again. So you see the bad faith.)

“There's really an orchestrated campaign. I don't know for what purpose pero tingin ko (but I think), it's part of the propaganda machine of some political parties,” Remulla added. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
