HPG tracks down 10 more Zaldy Co-linked luxury cars
The Highway Patrol Group (HPG) is still searching for 10 luxury vehicles linked to former lawmaker Zaldy Co amid an investigation into allegedly anomalous flood control projects, an official said on Monday.
“Sampo pa yung nasa listahan namin. Yun ang hinahanap naming ngayon,” HPG acting director Police Colonel Hansel Marantan said at a press conference.
(We still have 10 on our list. Those are what we are currently looking for.)
He urged the drivers of the vehicles to surrender them to the authorities to avoid criminal liability.
“Nakikiusap kami sa mga drivers, i-surrender niyo na iyan. Baka abutan pa sa inyo. Hindi rin naman ninyo magagamit iyan dahil huhulihin rin naman kayo sa kalsada,” Marantan said.
(We are asking the drivers to surrender the vehicles. You might be held liable. You won’t be able to use them because you could be caught on the road.)
“At hindi rin naman ninyo maibibenta yan. Kapag inabutan pa sa inyo, kayo pa ang mananagot,” he added.
(And you won’t be able to sell them either. If the vehicles are seized in your possession, you will be held liable.)
Authorities are investigating around 24 luxury vehicles linked to Co, according to Marantan. Last week, search warrants were executed for some of these vehicles at a condominium in Taguig City.
Under the Bureau of Customs, operations targeted nine luxury vehicles linked to Co, but only eight were found.
Under the HPG, six vehicles were located, but only four were seized, as the remaining two could not be started.
A total of 12 luxury vehicles are now in the custody of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI).
Arrest warrants have been issued against Co and others, including officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and directors of Sunwest Corp., over alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
On November 18, 2025, the Ombudsman filed corruption and malversation of public funds charges against Co and others with the Sandiganbayan.
The charges are linked to an alleged P289 million flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.
Co has denied the allegations. He has since resigned as a House member, flew out of the country and is now reportedly in hiding overseas.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
