No impending Cabinet shake-up, says Ralph Recto
Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on Monday dismissed reports of an alleged revamp among Cabinet members of the Marcos administration.
''At present, there is no impending Cabinet shake-up. Speculation about looming revamp does not serve any constructive purpose for the Government or the Filipino people,'' Recto said in a statement.
Recto stressed that all appointees serve at the pleasure of the President, and that their performance is subject to constant review by the Office of the President.
''Everyone should remain focused on their jobs for the good of our people,'' Recto said.
Last week, there were rumors that there would be a change of leadership in the Department of Education, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Tourism, and even the Department of Public Works and Highways.
It can be recalled that President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr., in May 2025, asked for the courtesy resignations of Cabinet secretaries, to “recalibrate” his administration following the midterm elections.
Another shakeup hit the Marcos Cabinet in November, with the resignation of three high-ranking officials, including former Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and ex-Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman. Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Adrian Bersamin likewise stepped down from his post. –NB, GMA Integrated News
