Marcos now in UAE for working visit
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for his one-day working visit upon the invitation of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The plane carrying Marcos landed at Al Bateen Airport in Abu Dhabi in the evening of Monday (11:09 p.m., Abu Dhabi time).
He was welcomed by UAE Minister of State His Excellency Saeed Al Hajeri, Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro and Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ver.
During his working visit, Marcos will join fellow heads of state and government in attending and participating in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), an annual forum that serves as a platform for international collaboration to address current and future challenges requiring unified global action.
Marcos will share the Philippines’ perspectives while gaining valuable insights from other global leaders.
Two major bilateral agreements between the Philippines and the UAE, the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Defense Cooperation, will be inked during the visit.
Marcos is also scheduled to conduct business meetings and engage with members of the Filipino community during his visit. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
