Palace verifying info on Bonoan giving false data to Marcos

Malacañang said Thursday it is verifying the statement of Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson that former Public Works and Highways secretary Manuel Bonoan deliberately submitted incorrect information about flood control projects to President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr.

''Sa ngayon po bine-verify pa rin po ang nasabi po ni Senator Lacson so hindi pa po tayo makakapagbigay ng detalye at kailangan po naming maverify lahat po ito,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a briefing.

(At present, we are still verifying the statement made by Senator Lacson so we can't provide any details yet. We need to verify this first.)

Lacson has alleged that Bonoan deliberately submitted to Malacañang incorrect grid coordinates for thousands of flood control projects across the country.

The senator said he received “reliable information” indicating that Bonoan’s actions were intended to mislead the President in order to conceal the anomalies in flood control projects.

In November last year, the Bureau of Immigration confirmed that Bonoan left the Philippines amid the investigation into anomalous flood control projects.

The agency said the former DPWH chief has yet to return even after his declared return date of December 17, 2025.

To recall, the Independent Commission for Infrastructure has recommended filing criminal and administrative charges against Bonoan and other former DPWH officials over a P95 million flood control project in Bocaue, Bulacan.

Bonoan earlier denied allegations that he was involved in flood control anomalies. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
