ICC appeals anew for witnesses on Duterte's war on drugs

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has made public a microsite wherein witnesses can encode information on alleged crimes committed under former President Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs.

"The Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court is investigating allegations of crimes against humanity perpetrated in the Philippines, including killings, torture and sexual violence, as part of the so-called War on Drugs campaign between November 2011 and March 2019," according to the post on ICC's Facebook account.

"The Office is appealing for direct witnesses to these incidents, including members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies who were involved in these incidents, to come forward and speak with members of the Office."

The ICC instructs the public to submit information using a microsite, https://bit.ly/49IfCBj.

The posted call for witnesses has also a Visayan version and a Tagalog version.

Earlier, Nicholas Kaufman, the lawyer of former President Rodrigo Duterte has submitted a joint report prepared by the Duterte camp’s own medical experts to support their assertion that the 80-year-old Duterte’s condition has further deteriorated and warrants his release from detention.

The joint report was submitted to the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I as an annex to a 12-page filing dated January 9.

The submission of a joint medical report by Duterte’s camp came more than a month after the three-member panel of experts submitted their joint and individual reports on Duterte’s fitness to stand trial.
