Lorraine Badoy pays fine over indirect contempt ruling of SC
Former National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict spokesperson Lorraine Badoy has paid a fine of P30,000 over her remarks against a court judge in 2022, according to the Supreme Court (SC) on Friday.
In a statement, the SC noted the compliance filed by Badoy informing the Court that she paid the fine for indirect contempt in August 2025.
To recall, the SC found Badoy guilty of indirect contempt in August 2023 over her “vitriolic statements and outright threats” against Judge Marlo Magdoza-Malagar of the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 19.
Badoy’s remarks stemmed from Magdoza-Malagar’s decision to dismiss the Department of Justice’s proscription case seeking to declare the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) as terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, the SC has warned Badoy that a repetition of the same or similar acts will merit a more severe sanction.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
