Estrada reports to Sandiganbayan after trip abroad

Estrada reports to Sandiganbayan after trip abroad

Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Friday showed up before the Sandiganbayan to report his return to the country after an overseas trip.

Estrada’s action is in compliance with the court order requiring the Senator to report his return to the country after he was allowed by the Sandiganbayan to travel abroad amid multiple pending graft charges against him over alleged misuse of his P183 million Priority Development Assistance Fund or discretionary fund for his constituents.

“I was required by the court to report here five days after arrival [in the Philippines],” Estrada told reporters.

Estrada, who is still facing 11 counts of graft charges before the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division, went to the anti-graft court with a copy of his Philippine passport.

In November last year, Estrada asked the court to travel to Japan, Norway, and Austria.

Estrada is also facing criminal complaints linked to the anomalous flood control projects.

The senator "categorically and vehemently" denied the allegations against him. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
