CIDG-NCR SAYS

3 of 4 cops in second arrest warrant over missing sabungeros now in custody

3 of 4 cops in second arrest warrant over missing sabungeros now in custody

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) on Friday said three of the four police officers named in a newly issued arrest warrant over the missing sabungeros case are now in custody.

CIDG-NCR chief Police Colonel John Guiagui said the second arrest order came from the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 13 of Lipa City, Batangas over charges of kidnapping with homicide.

"May panibagong warrant of arrest na inilabas ang RTC Branch 13 ng Lipa City, Batangas, kidnapping with homicide. So mayroon tayong naidagdag na apat doon sa naunang warrant of arrest," Guiagui told reporters.

(There is a new arrest warrant issued by RTC- Branch 13 of Lipa City, Batangas, kidnapping with homicide. So four cops have been added aside from those in the previous arrest warrant.)

According to Guiagui, three of the four newly named police officers who face arrest were already under CIDG's restrictive custody even before the second warrant was released.

However, authorities are still searching for one remaining police officer, who has already been dismissed.

"So tatlo dito accounted na natin at ongoing effort doon sa isa at saka of course kay Charlie 'Atong' Ang. Under restrictive custody pa rin namin sila. And nai-serve na namin. 'Yung isa kasi is dismissed 'yun. So ongoing 'yung effort natin hopefully ma-account natin within the day," Guiagui said.

(So we have accounted for three and ongoing effort is underway for one of them and then, of course, for Charlie "Atong" Ang. They are still under restrictive custody. And we have served them the arrest warrant. The other one was dismissed. So our ongoing effort, hopefully we will account them within the day.)

The first arrest warrant was issued earlier this week by a Laguna court against Ang and others, also in connection with the missing sabungeros or cockfight enthusiasts. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
