Mayon Volcano continues to shed 'uson,' rockfall — PHIVOLCS
Incandescent pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson” and rockfall continue to be shed by Mayon Volcano, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported late Tuesday evening.
The uson and rockfall, PHIVOLCS said, was she onto the Miis (south), Bonga (southeast) and Basud (east) Gullies.
"The Mayon Volcano Network also recorded seismic and infrasound signals of episodic and minor Strombolian activity," the agency said.
"Alert Level 3 prevails over Mayon and entry into the 6-km Permanent Danger Zone must be prohibited," it added.
Meanwhile, face masks are becoming essential anew for some residents in Albay who have experienced an ashfall event from Mayon Volcano on Monday night.
According to a "24 Oras" report by Oscar Oida, in some areas, residents use their umbrellas to shield themselves from the volcanic ash as they walk on the streets. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
