Marcos to those who want him out: Don’t get too excited

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday assured that he is fine and that what he experienced was not a life-threatening condition.

In a video message after it was revealed that he was placed under medical observation, Marcos said people who want him out of power should not be excited, as what he experienced was not that serious.

“Wag muna kayo masyado ma-excited dahil it’s not a life-threatening condition,” Marcos said.

“Wala, wag kayo magalala. The rumors of my death are highly exaggerated,” he added.

On January 19, lawyer Andre de Jesus filed the first impeachment complaint against the President since he assumed office on June 30, 2016.

House Deputy Minority Leader and Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay endorsed the complaint, which was filed on the grounds of graft and corruption, culpable violation of the Constitution, and betrayal of public trust.

Former government officials attempted to file a third impeachment complaint against the President this afternoon, but the Office of the Secretary General refused to accept it, as its head, Cheloy Garafil, is currently abroad to receive an award from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This also happened when Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) and allied groups tried to file an impeachment complaint against the President earlier in the day.

Meanwhile, in the video, Marcos mentioned that he experienced diverticulitis, adding that it is common among individuals who are heavily stressed and getting older.

''I'm fine. I'm feeling very different from when the way I was feeling before. Naayos na ‘yung problema,'' Marcos said.

''What happened was I apparently, and I now have diverticulitis. It's a common complaint amongst apparently people who are heavily stressed and people are –  I have to admit – growing old,'' he added.

Mayo Clinic defines diverticulitis as inflammation of irregular bulging pouches in the wall of the large intestine.

Asked if he would take it easy when it comes to work, Marcos said it seemed impossible since he has a lot of things to do.

''No. Well, yeah, of course, lagi naman sinasabi ng doktor sa akin ‘yun. Pero papaano mo naman gagawin ‘yun ang daming trabaho?'' Marcos said.  —LDF, GMA Integrated News
