Possible provisions of anti-dynasty bill being studied —Palace

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has met with Executive Secretary Ralph Recto to discuss the possible provisions of the proposed Anti-Dynasty bill, a priority measure of the Marcos administration.

The meeting took place last Tuesday at Malacañang Palace, according to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro on Thursday.

''Nagkaroon po ng meeting tungkol sa Anti-Dynasty Bill. Pinag-usapan po doon iyong mga maaaring lamanin o ma-propose na provisions para sa Anti-Dynasty Bill dahil ito po ay isa sa mga priority bills ng ating Pangulo,'' Castro said.

''Ang mga napag-usapan ay iyong tungkol sa mga levels of ban; iyong mga degree of familial relationships; types of relationship considered kung consanguinity, affinity; mga positions covered – local ba, national or both; at kung ang scope of timing or timing of prohibition – simultaneous or successive,'' she added.

Castro said these provisions for the proposed measure are being studied.

Marcos earlier urged Congress to prioritize the passage of the Anti-Dynasty Bill.

Several measures have been filed in both the House of Representatives and the Senate seeking to implement the 1987 Constitution’s provision mandating the prohibition of political dynasties.

Some lawmakers urged Marcos to certify the measure as urgent legislation as soon as possible.

Malacañang had said the political landscape in the country has changed, prompting the President to support the proposed anti-dynasty measure. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
