Public safety, governance focus of DILG, Egyptian envoy talks
The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Arab Republic of Egypt discussed better partnerships between their countries in a recent meeting.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla and Egypt's Ambassador to the Philippines, Nader Zaki, tackled the two countries' shared interests in peace and security, good governance, cultural exchange, and sustainable development during the latter's courtesy call.
They also discussed other areas of cooperation on institutional strengthening, public safety, and governance reforms.
“Both sides emphasized the value of constructive dialogue, professional exchange, and sustained engagement between institutions,” according to a statement.
DILG noted that the meetings showed positive results for future collaboration and initiatives between the two countries.
The Philippines and Egypt had previous collaborations and initiatives, including a partnership with the Department of Tourism in November, after Egypt had opened its doors to Filipino tourists at the Egyptian Museum. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
