Medical quarantine of Bong Revilla, co-accused expected to end Tuesday
The medical quarantine of former senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. and his aco-accused in the anomalous flood control projects in Bulacan are expected to end on Tuesday (January 27) or possibly Wednesday (January 28), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said Sunday.
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, BJMP spokesperson Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera said the seven days time period for the quarantine period also includes security and risk assessments.
“Sa ngayon wala pang nakikita [na sakit]. Kasama sa 7 araw 'yung security assessment, risk assessment, interviews sa mga PDLs, at ibang PDL na posibleng makasama nila,” Bustinera said.
(So far, there have been no diseases monitored. Security assessment, risk assessment, and interview of persons deprived of liberty are also included in the seven-period.)
“Kasi tinitingnan din natin kung una, tanggap ba nila. Pangalawa, nag che-check tayo ng possible na mga threat sa security nila. Ayaw naman natin may mangyari sa kanila habang nasa poder namin sila.” he added.
(We’re also checking if the PDLs are okay with it. Second, we’re looking into the possibility of security threats. We don’t want any unfavorable events while they are under our care.)
Bustinera added that aside from additional security measures, operations remain normal at the Quezon City (QC) Jail Male Dormitory where Revilla and his co accused are being held.
The Sandiganbayan Third Division had ordered Revilla's temporary detention in the jail facility after the Ombudsman filed a malversation case against him and his co-accused over an alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
These include former Department of Public Works and Highways Bulacan engineers Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, Arjay Domasig and finance section chief Juanito Mendoza. —RF, GMA Integrated News
