DHSUD launches townhall meetings with HOAs to address community concerns

DHSUD kicks off townhall meetings with HOAs to address community concerns

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) has recently launched townhall meetings to engage homeowners’ associations (HOAs) and guide them towards community development.

A team from the DHSUD Central Office engaged an HOA in Dasmariñas City, Cavite in a dialogue on Thursday, which was attended by 182 residents.

The community dialogue focused on clarifying concerns surrounding the HOA’s suspension and guiding officers and members on the requirements and process for re-registration with DHSUD.

“Ito po ay alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Marcos Jr. para ilapit natin sa ating mga kababayan ang mas mabilis, malinis at may malasakit na serbisyo publiko,” DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said in a statement on Sunday.

(This is in line with President Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring faster, honest, and compassionate public services to our countrymen.)

“Asahan po ninyo na tuluy-tuloy ang pagbaba ng DHSUD sa ating mga HOAs upang mas paigtingin ang ating partnership sa ating mga stakeholders. Mas maraming magagawa kung sama-sama at tulong-tulong,” he added.

(You can be assured that the DHSUD will continue to reach out to our HOAs to bolster our partnership with our stakeholders. We can do more together.)

DHSUD Supervising Senior Undersecretary Sharon Faith Paquiz underscored the need for proactive engagement with HOAs to keep them informed of the latest DHSUD guidelines.

“This dialogue underscores the importance of compliance, transparency, and shared responsibility in strengthening our HOAs. Well-informed HOAs means empowered homeowners,” Paquiz said.

During the townhall meeting in Cavite, the DHSUD team addressed questions raised by residents and stressed that its regulatory role is anchored on protecting homeowners and ensuring orderly, accountable, and empowered communities.

Aliling also reiterated the DHSUD’s open door policy and commitment to dialogue with all stakeholders, especially for HOAs facing challenges. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
