LTFRB: Automated process to be used for vehicle roadworthiness checks

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Monday said it will use an automated process to assess vehicle roadworthiness as part of its efforts to ensure the safety of commuters.

“Gagamitin natin ang mga motor vehicle inspection centers natin nationwide [para] dumaan na sa automated process ang pag-check ng roadworthiness,” LTFRB chairperson Vigor Mendoza II told Super Radyo dzBB.

(We will use our nationwide motor vehicle inspection centers so that roadworthiness checks will go through an automated process.)

He added that aside from its roadworthiness, vehicles will also be checked for their cleanliness.

“'Yung ating motor vehicle inspection center, kasama na diyan ang visual inspection ng mga sasakyan,” Mendoza said.

(Our motor vehicle inspection centers also include visual inspection of vehicles.)

“If we catch a vehicle on the road na sira-sirain, we will hold the regional directors accountable for this,” He added.

Mendoza also said LTFRB will create enforcement teams and a mystery rider pool to remind operators and drivers about the roadworthiness of their vehicles.

“Sa Huwebes, magra-run through. Inimbitahan natin ang transport leaders, magra-run through tayo sa motor vehicle inspection center kung ano ang titignan, gaano kabilis ang proseso ng pag-inspect,”Mendoza said.

(We will have a run-through of motor vehicle inspection on Thursday. We will invite transport leaders to check how long the inspection will take.)

LTFRB earlier vowed to intensify its operations against illegal transport terminals across the country, citing corruption and risks to public safety. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
