DSWD disowns AI-generated video with fake claims about relief goods

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Monday warned the public against an artificial intelligence (AI)-generated video spreading false information about relief items that the agency distributes in times of disasters.

In a Facebook post, the DSWD denied the claims in the video and assured that its relief operations follow strict standards and processes.

(One of the contents spreading on social media is an AI-generated video that contains false information about the relief items that the agency distributes in times of calamity.)

(Let us take extra care because there are social media contents that use artificial intelligence to make it appear true in order to deceive you.)

The post was accompanied by a screenshot of the supposed fake video, which claimed that the relief goods distributed by the DSWD were already spoiled.

The agency assured that it remains faithful to the clear, orderly, and humane distribution of relief assistance in accordance with strict standards and processes.

Huwag basta maniwala at magbahagi para maiwasan ang kalituhan at maling pahayag,” the DSWD said.

(In these times that AI-generated content seem to be real, it is more important to be critical. Do not believe and share these so easily in order to avoid confusion and fake news.)

The DSWD advised the public to follow its official social media accounts on Facebook, X, Youtube, Instagram, Viber, and its official website for correct, timely information. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
