Marcos to PNP: Be seen, disciplined, trustworthy
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday urged members of the police force to maintain visibility, discipline, and trustworthiness, as the country marks Philippine National Police (PNP) Day on January 29.
“As we build a Bagong Pilipinas, peace and order remain fundamental for growth and public confidence. I ask every member of the PNP to focus on what matters most: visible presence, disciplined conduct, and service that communities can trust,” Marcos said in a video message.
He commended police officers for being competent and respectful.
"We are committed to strengthening training that improves decision-making in very real situations, investing in systems that shorten response times, and enforcing accountability mechanisms that protect both the public and the honest police officer," Marcos said.
Marcos has skipped some public engagements after he was placed under medical observation last week due to diverticulitis, or the inflammation of irregular bulging pouches in the wall of the large intestine.
This included the Pagpupugay 2025: Parangal Sa Mga Lingkod event at Malacanang held earlier, where he was represented by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
Marcos Jr., however, attended the oath-taking ceremony of Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. as PNP chief.
Nartatez said Marcos ordered him to continue the ongoing work of the PNP, particularly in keeping communities safe and further reducing criminality nationwide.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
