St. Luke’s denies releasing Marcos’ medical results
St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) on Wednesday denied releasing to the public the medical test results of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
In a public advisory posted on its Facebook account, the hospital management said the documents circulating online pertaining to the medical document of Marcos are “fake and falsified.”
“St. Luke’s Medical Center strictly upholds patient confidentiality and data privacy. Medical results are released only to the patient himself/herself through authorized and official hospital channels,” it said.
The hospital stressed that any medical results or documents obtained and circulated outside authorized channels are considered “fraudulent.”
“The posting or sharing of a patient’s medical information by anyone other than the patient constitutes a breach of data privacy and is a violation of hospital policy and applicable laws,” it said.
It advised the public to be responsible in sharing unofficial information, like medical results.
“Doing so may contribute to the spread of false information and may expose individuals to legal consequences,” it said.
Earlier, Malacañang also said that the medical documents on Marcos circulating online are “fake.”
“The document being circulated is fake. It did not originate from any legitimate medical examination of the President and does not reflect his current health condition. The President is well, fully capable of discharging his official responsibilities, and continues to actively perform his duties,” the Presidential Communications Office said in a statement.
Marcos was placed under medical observation at SLMC in Quezon City due to diverticulitis, or the inflammation of irregular bulging pouches in the wall of the large intestine.
But Malacañang earlier denied the reports that Marcos would undergo surgery for his diagnosis. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
