Vitaly could be sent back to PH if proven involved in corruption, SILG Remulla says
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Thursday said Russian vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy could be sent back to the Philippines if authorities establish his involvement in corruption activities.
“Kung nambubuwisit talaga ito, sasampulan ko. Kukunin ulit natin. Meron, kung he was part of, kung corruptor siya, kasama siya doon sa charge,” Remulla said in an interview during Unang Balita.
“Extradition lahat 'yan. Nasa Russia siya ngayon. Doon namin dinala,” he added.
Remulla clarified that Vitaly was detained under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration and not the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
After his deportation, Zdorovetskiy took to social media to recount his experience in a Philippine detention facility.
In an Instagram post and a livestream with American online personality Adin Ross, the Russian vlogger claimed he filmed his experience after bribing jail guards and smuggling a mobile phone into his cell.
