Zaldy Co in Sweden? DFA says it's law enforcement matter

MANDAUE CITY - The Department of Foreign Affairs said Thursday the latest information as regards the possible location of Zaldy Co is a matter that is in the hands of law enforcement authorities

''This is primarily a law enforcement matter. It is best to ask our law enforcement authorities,'' the DFA said in a brief message to GMA News Online when asked what will be the next step on Co after he supposedly appeared in Sweden.

In a chance interview in a hotel in Cebu, DFA Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro was also asked if the agency already talked to the government of Sweden regarding Co. She said she doesn't need to as ''document speaks for itself.''

''I don't have to talk to Sweden, the document speaks for itself,'' Lazaro said.

The former lawmaker, who is facing an arrest warrant from the Sandiganbayan, has "emerged" in Stockholm, Sweden at least on January 15 based on an apostille attached to a petition filed with the Supreme Court.

GMA Integrated News exclusively obtained a copy of the certiorari petition against Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla filed on January 25, showing the apostille that Co personally signed the petition before a notary public in the municipality of Nacka.

Co is facing an arrest warrant before the Sandiganbayan for cases of malversation and graft filed by the Ombudsman in November in connection with a P289-M flood control project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

He has since denied all allegations thrown against him.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
