Marcos calls for review of outdated policies, urges public input on solutions

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Sunday said outdated policies and systems need to be modernized to improve government services.

“Pero ang tingin ko, kailangan natin tutukan ang mga lumang polisiya na nagpapabagal at nagpapahirap sa mga government transaction sa ease of doing business, 'ika nga,” Marcos said in his latest vlog.

(But in my view, we need to focus on old policies that slow down and complicate government transactions—or 'ease of doing business,' as they say.)

He cited as an example the policy requiring an ID to apply for an ID.

“’Tanyag tayo sa polisiyang kailangan ng ID para mag-apply kumuha ng ID. Isang repleksyon ng napakalumang sistema,” Marcos said.

(We are known for the policy of needing an ID just to apply for an ID. It reflects a very outdated system.)

Other outdated policies that need updating, he said, include filling out multiple forms with the same information and requiring physical appearance for transactions that could be done digitally.

“Dito sa ating bansa, marami pang polisiya ang kailangan natin baguhin at rebisahin. Nakikita natin sa balita at naririnig natin ang mga kababayan natin, ang kanilang mga reklamo,” he added.

(In our country, there are still many policies we need to change and revise. We see it in the news and hear the complaints of our fellow citizens.)

He noted that even small, outdated procedures can cause significant inconvenience.

“Nakikita natin sa ating mga nakasanayang pamamaraan na pinaglumaan na ng panahon. Tila maliit na bagay pero laking perwisyo sa tao,” Marcos said.

(We see that our accustomed procedures have been outpaced by time. They may seem minor, but they cause major inconvenience to the people.)

The President also encouraged citizens to help propose solutions.

“Kailangan din natin tandaan na matagumpay ang mga polisiya sa ibang bansa dahil sa kooperasyon ng ating mga mamamayan," he said.

(We also need to remember that policies succeed in other countries because of citizen cooperation.)

"Na bagamat hindi popular sa simula ang isang polisiya, kapag binigyan ng pagkakataon maimplementa nang tama, maganda naman ang resulta,” he said.

(Even if a policy isn’t popular at first, when implemented properly, the results are positive.)

The President invited the public to share policy suggestions that could help address the country’s challenges.

“Ang mga polisiya ay kultura na isinusulat bilang batas. Ipaalam ninyo sa amin sa comment section kung may mga mungkahi kayong polisiya na makakatulong solusyonan ang marami nating problema. Aabangan namin ang mga suggestion ninyo,” he said.
