Marcos orders prompt payment for contractors who did well
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has ordered all government agencies to guarantee that the contractors who have performed well in their projects are immediately paid.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro, in a briefing, said this emphasized the administration's firm resolve to improve the economy after it initiated the investigation into anomalies in flood control projects.
(The President has ordered that contractors who have already fulfilled their contracts be paid. The faster the payment process, the better the work for Filipinos. Good connections and relationships between national and local governments are also needed to monitor and complete infrastructure projects.)
Marcos gave the order during a meeting with the economic team last week in which he tasked officials to “move forward” and prioritize the swift and efficient implementation of government infrastructure projects.
He also stressed the need for close monitoring to ensure timely completion and high-quality outcomes of the projects.
The directive also called for stronger coordination between national and local government units to oversee infrastructure projects effectively, Castro said. –NB, GMA Integrated News
