LTO: No restrictions on payment options for transactions, services
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Monday said it has not limited the payment options for transactions with the agency and that all payment options – cash or otherwise – are still accepted.
The LTO issued the clarification amid questions on social media about the accepted payment options for the LTO’s services.
In a statement, the LTO stressed that it has “not issued any order or directive limiting transactions to online payment only.”
“All LTO offices, district offices, extension offices, and allied service providers are authorized to accept multiple modes of payment, and clients have the full right to choose their preferred method – including cash, card, and other electronic payment channels as available,” it said.
The LTO added that “any restriction of payment options to online payment only is unauthorized and not in line with LTO policies.”
The agency encouraged the public to report unauthorized payment restrictions or unclear fees to LTO personnel at district offices, extension offices, allied service providers, or through the LTO’s official social media platforms and communication channels.
As to convenience fees for some electronic payment channels, the agency clarified these are imposed not by the LTO and are not reflected on official LTO receipts.
“These fees are collected by third-party payment service providers to cover the costs of their infrastructure and services. The LTO remains committed to eliminating fixers and ensuring transparent, efficient transactions for the public,” the LTO added. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
