DILG offers ₱1M reward for information on gunman who killed cop in Bulacan

DILG Offers P1M Reward for Information on Gunman Who Killed Cop in Bulacan

A P1-million reward is being offered to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the alleged gunman who killed a cop whose body was found in a septic tank in Malolos, Bulacan, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Tuesday.

“The DILG is putting a P1 million price tag on the head, on the arrest, on information leading to the arrest of Julian Salamat,” Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said at a press conference.

On his birthday on January 24, victim Police Staff Sergeant Renato Casauay Jr. asked permission from his wife to travel to Malolos to meet an asset, but he failed to return home, according to the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3).

Casauay’s wife reported him missing the following day at the Baliwag City Police Station, leading to the issuance of a flash alarm and the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG).

On January 30, Casauay, along with his personal belongings, was found in a septic tank with three gunshot wounds, including one to the head and two to the hands.

The police have arrested a total of four suspects, while seven are still at large.

One of the suspects arrested is a police officer who was allegedly informed by the gunman about the incident but did not take any action.

Two of the arrested suspects executed extrajudicial confessions, admitting they were ordered to clean the crime scene and dump Casauay’s body into the septic tank.

Asked about the motive, the police said Casauay, in December 2025, conducted an anti-drug operation that was linked to the suspected gunman.

According to the police, they have already obtained CCTV footage in connection with the incident. –NB, GMA Integrated News
