Marcos 'initially approves' validity of new vehicle registration for 5 years
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has ''initially approved” the proposal to extend the validity of registration for new vehicles to five years, Malacañang said Tuesday.
In a press briefing, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the proposal was presented by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez during a meeting in Malacañang Palace.
''Iinisyal po na naaprubahan ito ng Pangulo at susundan po ito ng mga memorandum na gagawin po ng DOTr so hintayin na lamang po natin ‘to,'' Castro said.
(The President initially approved this and this will be followed by memoranda, which will be issued by the DOTr, so we just have to wait.)
The said proposal is expected to reduce the frequency of vehicle registration transactions, shorten queues at government offices, and lower compliance costs for motorists.
\Meanwhile, Lopez also briefed Marcos about the ongoing improvements when it comes to railway operations, including the rehabilitation of MRT-3 facilities at the Quezon Avenue Station, the continued rollout of cashless payment systems at MRT-3, and the planned introduction of cashless payments in LRT-1 and LRT-2 in 2026.
He also reported the refurbishment of the remaining Dalian trains, with the aim to increase MRT-3 capacity. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
