PH in 2026 UN 'Honor Roll' of states that pay contributions on time
The Philippines is among the top 47 countries listed by the United Nations that have paid their annual dues in full and on time for 2026.
Manila's full and timely payment within the 30-day due period specified in the UN's financial regulation by February 8 "showcases the country’s enduring commitment to the United Nations and multilateralism," the Department of Foreign Affairs said.
For this year, the Philippines, seeking a non-permanent seat in the world body's powerful Security Council for the term 2027 to 2028, paid $6,299,300 on January 28, UN data showed.
"It reflects the country’s concrete contribution to facilitate the work of the UN, amidst challenging geopolitical realities, in delivering on its mandates across the three pillars of peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights," the DFA said in a statement.
The Philippines’ annual contribution share in the UN budget is determined by the scales of assessment adopted by the General Assembly, through a methodology that factors in annual gross national income (GNI), per capita income, and debt-burdens of member states, and other applicable adjustments.
Other states that fully settled their cash contributions early were: Armenia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominican Republic, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine, Canada, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Liechtenstein, Barbados, Netherlands, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Nauru, Azerbaijan, Singapore, Slovakia, United Arab Emirates, Ireland, Malaysia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Saint Lucia, Sweden, Antigua and Barbuda, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Belgium, Cabo Verde, Germany, India, Morocco and Slovenia.
