Contractor Sarah Discaya and Roma Rimando of St. Timothy Construction filed a petition for bail in their non-bailable malversation of public funds case, her spokesperson said Tuesday.
Lawyer Cornelio Samaniego III confirmed that they filed the bail petition with the Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 27.
“Dalawa po sila ni Roma Rimando and Sarah Discaya (Roma Rimando and Sarah Discaya both filed),” Samaniego said in a message.
In December 2025, the Office of the Ombudsman filed malversation and graft charges against Discaya and others over a P96.5-million ghost flood control project in Davao Occidental.
Discaya and Rimando have both pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
They are currently detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail.
Aside from this case, Discaya is facing tax evasion charges before the Court of Tax Appeals. Four counts of tax evasion were filed against her for violations of Sections 254 (Willful Attempt to Evade or Defeat Taxes) and 255 (Willful Failure to Supply Correct and Accurate Information) of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
