NBI submits supplemental documents for red notice request vs Zaldy Co

NBI submits supplemental documents for red notice request vs Zaldy Co

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has submitted its supplemental documents to Interpol regarding its request for a red notice against former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, its spokesperson said Wednesday.

"Naisubmit na po (it has been submitted),” NBI spokesperson Palmer Mallari said.

Last week, Mallari said Interpol requested the NBI to submit additional documents. It gave the bureau until February 11 to do so.

“We will just await [International Criminal Police Organization]'s disposition,” he said.

The NBI sought the issuance of an Interpol red notice against Co in December 2025 after the former congressman was declared a "fugitive from justice" by the Sandiganbayan.

This was over the malversation and graft charges filed against him over a P289-million substandard road dike project in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

According to the Interpol, a red notice is a request to law enforcement worldwide to locate and provisionally arrest a person who is wanted by a requesting member country or an international tribunal pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.

Co’s legal counsel has confirmed that he is in Sweden, but denied that Co sent "emissaries" to talk to the Philippine government.

This came after Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said that Co allegedly sent feelers to priests for a dialogue with the government. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
