Comelec: Over 4,000 voters registered for 2026 BSKE, BARMM polls
The number of applicants who registered to vote for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) and the first-ever Bangsamoro parliamentary polls in the Bangsamoro region rose to more than 4,000, latest data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed.
The poll body said that as of February 11 the total number of registrants stood at 4,305. Of the figure, 2,133 were female and 2,1772 were male.
Maguindanao del Norte recorded the highest number of registrants at 1,191. It was followed by Maguindanao del Sur with 817; Lanao del Sur with 801; the Special Geographic Area (SGA) in Cotabato with 676; and Basilan with 440.
Tawi-Tawi has the lowest number of registrants with 380.
The Comelec previously said it would resume voters' registration in the autonomous region on February 9 to March 31, 2026 in view of the suspension of the March 30 Bangsamoro polls.
Meanwhile, the elections body said a total of 1,877,784 applicants nationwide registered for the 2026 BSKE, higher than its initial target of 1.4 million new voters.
The nationwide voter registration for the 2026 BSKE resumed on October 20, 2025. It will run until May 18, 2026.
Applicants may register from Mondays to Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at any satellite registration sites or at their respective Comelec office of the election officer (OEO), according to the poll body. The voter registration period will likewise be open for all types of applications including:
- transfer of records
- new registration
- change of name and status
- correction of entries
- reactivation of registration records
- inclusion of registration records,
- and reinstating of name in the list of voters
The Comelec earlier said it is targeting to register 1.4 million new voters for the 2026 BSKE during the months-long nationwide registration.
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in August signed into law the measure seeking to postpone the BSKE from December 1, 2025 to the first Monday of November 2026, and every four years thereafter. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
