PNP: 11,000 cops to deployed for third Trillion Peso March on February 25

Around 11,000 cops are set to be deployed to secure the conduct of the third Trillion Peso March, a protest against flood control corruption, on February 25, which falls on EDSA People Power Revolution anniversary.

At a press briefing on Friday, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said the police force is fully prepared to ensure that all related events and public gatherings are peaceful and orderly.

“Ito ay kaugnay sa gaganapin na Trillion Peso March. Nais po nating banggitin na handa po ang PNP upang tiyakin ang mapayapa at maayos na pagdaraos ng anumang aktibidad sa February 25,” he said.

(This is in connection with the upcoming Trillion Peso March. We would like to say that the PNP is ready to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of any activity on February 25.)

“Nagkasa po ang PNP ng mahigit na 11,000 kung saan sila po ay ide-deploy,” he added.

(The PNP has prepared more than 11,000 personnel for deployment.)

The Quezon City government earlier issued a memorandum dated February 10 to the Quezon City Police District identifying at least five organizations expected to participate in a two-day activity described as a “prayer and indignation rally," Tuaño said.

Events are scheduled on February 22 and 25 at EDSA Shrine and People Power Monument, with around 50,000 participants expected on each day.

No threats in connection with the protest have been monitored so far, according to the PNP. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
