Songs, anti-corruption protests to mark 40th year since EDSA Revolution
Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo has called on the public to mark the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution by attending the February 21 kickoff concert against corruption in Quezon Memorial Circle.
The former Vice President said the event is organized by the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) and Kaya Natin! with the theme “Awit at Aksyon Kontra Korapsyon” (Songs and Action against Corruption.)
“Everyone’s invited!” Robredo said in a Facebook post.
The organizers, for their part, said the concert seeks to remind Filipinos that the unity and courage that restored the country’s democracy in 1986 can be channeled into the fight against corruption.
“People Power proved that the Filipino people, when united, can stand up to injustice and demand accountability. This concert is a way to honor that legacy while encouraging citizens, especially the youth, to continue the fight for transparency and good governance,” they said.
The People Power concert’s preshow starts at 4 pm, while the main stage will begin at 6 pm.
Scheduled performers include: Madeline, Hey Moonshine, Stonefree, Chloe Redondo, Jkris Dantes, Crispin, Sisa and Bassilyo, TSN Drag, Mz. Chronicles, DJ JhaiHo, Ogie Alcasid, Janno Gibbs, Rivermaya, Ice Seguerra, Ebe Dancel, Pio Balbuena, stand-up comedians Alex Calleja at Red Ollero, Morobeats, Bea Binene, Elmo Magalona, Arkin Magalona, Earl Agustin, Chelsea Alley, and Over October.

Trillion Peso March
Just four days after on February 25, a Trillion Peso March against corruption and political dynasties led by Buhay and People Power Campaign Network will also be held to mark the 40th anniversary of the People Power Revolution.
The Trillion Peso March, the third in the last six months, will be held at the People Power Monument along EDSA and in various areas and dioceses nationwide.
In a statement, the Buhay and People Power Network said the main calls of the Trillion Peso March 3 include:
• People power, not dynastic power, passing of Anti-Dynasty Law, Party-List Reform Law and other systemic reforms
• Prosecute all key perpetrators in the flood control scandal
• Pass the Independent People’s Commission (IPC) and Independent Commission Against Infrastructure Corruption (ICAIC) Bills
• Recover ill-gotten wealth from all plunderers
• Justice for past and present human rights abuses. Form a truth commission and ensure reparations for extrajudicial killing victims of the Duterte administration
