Majority of Filipinos believe that elected officials do not value the public’s views and opinions, according to OCTA Research’s latest survey.
In a poll conducted from December 3 to 11 last year, 1,200 Filipino adults were asked: “In your opinion, do elected officials (in Congress and local government) value what people like you think?”
The survey results showed that 61% of Filipinos do not think that politicians consider their views.
Meanwhile, 31% of Filipinos believe that elected officials value the public’s views, while 31% were undecided.
When grouped by socioeconomic class, 28% of respondents from Classes A, B, and C believe that politicians value their views. Meanwhile, 61% do not think their opinions are valued by elected officials, while 11% are undecided.
Among the members of Class D, 30% think that elected officials consider what they think. However, 61% believe that politicians ignore their views and 9% are undecided.
In Class E, 41% believe that elected officials value their views, while 57% think that the politicians disregard their views and 3% are undecided.
OCTA Research said the poll carried a margin of error of ±3%, and noted that figures may not add up to 100% due to rounding off. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
