CBCP urges early voter education ahead of 2028 polls

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) called on authorities to launch voter education programs well in advance of the 2028 national elections.

According to a report on “24 Oras” Wednesday, the CBCP said early voter education could help the public distinguish genuine leaders from those merely engaging in politicking.

The bishops also reiterated their support for passing a law prohibiting political dynasties.

The Church additionally encouraged Filipino Catholics to observe digital media fasting this Lent. This involves limiting time on mobile phones after waking up and before going to bed.

Instead of scrolling through social media, the CBCP recommended using that time to pray, serve, read, and connect with others.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/MCG, GMA Integrated News
