Comelec: More than 17K registered to vote for 2026 BSKE, BPE
The number of applicants who registered to vote so far for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) and the first-ever Bangsamoro parliamentary polls rose to more than 17,000, latest data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) showed.
As of February 19, the elections body reported a total of 17,525 applicants in the Bangsamoro region. Of the figure, 8,616 were female and 8,903 were male.
Maguindanao del Norte recorded the highest number of registrants at 4,654. It was followed by Maguindanao del Sur with 3,428; Basilan with 2,911; Special Geographic Area (SGA) in Cotabato with 2,353; and Tawi-tawi with 2,151.
Lanao del Sur reported the lowest number of registrants with 2,028.
The Comelec previously announced it would resume voters' registration in the autonomous region on Monday, February 9. The elections body initially said the registration period will run until March 30 but extended it until March 31. — Sundy Locus/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
