What to expect for Trillion Peso March on February 25 EDSA anniv

Several groups from different sectors are set to hold a third iteration of the Trillion Peso March to protest against corruption and political dynasties on February 25, the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

According to the Trillion Peso March movement, the event carries the theme “Tayo ang People Power Laban sa Korapsyon at Dinastiya!” (We are the People Power against Corruption and Dynasty).

The first Trillion Peso March was held on September 21 last year following corruption issues in flood control projects. This was followed by a similar protest on November 30, Bonifacio Day.

Calls

Protesters are expected to call for the passage of an Anti-Dynasty Law, Party-List Reform Law, and other systemic reforms

They are also set to demand the prosecution of key perpetrators in the alleged flood control scandal as well as the passage of the Independent People’s Commission (IPC) and Independent Commission Against Infrastructure Corruption (ICAIC) bills.

Protesters will also urge plunderers to return ill-gotten wealth.

They will also call for justice for past and present human rights abuses, including the formation of a truth commission and reparations for victims of extra judicial killings during the Duterte administration.
