Melvin Matibag takes oath as NBI director
Lawyer Melvin Matibag on Friday took oath as the new director of the National Bureau of Investigation.
Matibag took his oath before Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
In his statement, Matibag said he is honored and humbled to accept the appointment as NBI director.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to President Bongbong Marcos for the trust and confidence,” Marcos said.
“I am committed to leading with nobility, bravery, and integrity, strengthening our fight against crime, including cybercrime, and bringing the Bureau closer to the Filipino people,” he added.
According to Malacañang, President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. sees lawyer Melvin Matibag trustworthy and capable of serving in the government.
In 2023, Matibag resigned as Secretary General of the PDP-Laban, the political party chaired by Marcos' predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
