BI nabs 3 Chinese nationals for alleged overstaying, use of false identity

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has arrested three Chinese nationals for alleged overstaying and use of false identities.

In a statement, the BI said a condominium raid in Barangay Tambo led to the arrest of Fang Li after authorities received information about her alleged involvement in illicit activities in the area.

Li was reportedly using the identity of another Chinese national and had failed to apply for a visa extension following her last recorded entry into the Philippines in 2022 as a temporary visitor, the BI said.

Also arrested was Chen Youliang, who is the subject of an active Blacklist Order with an Order to Leave for violating visa conditions. He was unable to present a valid passport or immigration documents at the time of his arrest.

A third suspect, Xu Yuxiang, was likewise apprehended after authorities found that his visa extension had already expired.

All three are currently under BI custody pending deportation proceedings.

“Foreign nationals who attempt to circumvent our laws through aliases, fraudulent identities, or expired visas will be apprehended and deported," BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said.

"We remain steadfast in ensuring that those engaged in illegal activities are removed from the country,” he added.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
