German Embassy warns vs visa, consular scams on social media
The German Embassy in Manila on Monday warned the public against recent visa and consular scams perpetrated by persons or agencies impersonating the embassy.
In a post on its Facebook page, the German Embassy said it will never contact anyone through social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, etc.
“Any official information of the Embassy is done by email, which should always include @mani.diplo.de or @mani.auswaertiges-amt.de,” it said.
It added that it will never ask for payments through social media, phone, or email.
“Fees for visa or consular applications are paid in the Embassy or at our service provider VFS Global at the time of your scheduled appointment,” the German Embassy said, adding that it only accepts cash payments or credit card payments, and never through bank transfers. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
