LTO to investigate Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando's alleged NLEX abuses
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando to surrender the firearms under his name, his security escorts, and the vehicles involved in an alleged road rage incident at the North Luzon Expressway on Saturday.
According to Jun Veneracion's report on "24 Oras," these have since been released, but the Land Transportation Office has been tasked to investigate Fernando's alleged abuses on the expressway.
Remulla called Fernando on Sunday after he received reports that a Bulacan Capitol convoy blocked a presidential son at NLEX on Saturday evening.
"It doesn’t matter if it was a presidential son or not. Naging ugali na ni Gov. Fernando na kapag nabiyahe siya ng NLEX ay 4 na lane ang occupied niya na walang puwedeng mag overtake," Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said.
"Daig pa ang presidente kung bumiyahe. So regardless kung sino ang naging victim that was wrong,” he added. Malacañang earlier denied that a presidential son was involved in a road rage incident over the weekend.
(It doesn’t matter if it was a presidential son or not. It has become Governor Fernando's habit that whenever he travels on NLEX, he occupies four lanes, and no one is allowed to overtake,” Remulla said in Filipino. He travels as if he’s more important than the President, so regardless of who the victim was, that was wrong.)
Malacañang already denied that one of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s sons was harassed at NLEX, and Remulla is not confirming such as this.
But Remulla said that he also received a report of an alleged road rage incident that stemmed from Fernando’s abuse in using the expressway.
The DILG chief did not give further information on the issue as the Land Transportation Office is the one investigating.
