LOOK: Vendors sell anti-corruption merch on EDSA 40th anniv
Several vendors set up sidewalk retail stalls along EDSA to sell merchandise with anti-corruption messages during the 40th anniversary of the People Power revolt on Wednesday.
Their merchandise included black and white shirts with images of people behind bars emblazoned with the words, "Ikulong na 'yan, mga kurakot" (Jail the corrupt) and, "Lahat ng sangkot, dapat managot" (All those involved should be held accountable).
Baseball caps bearing the words, "Tama na, sobra na, ikulong na ang mga kurakot" (Enough is enough, jail the corrupt) were also for sale.
Key holders, ref magnets, and wristbands with similar messages, like "Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap" (No corruption, no poverty,) were likewise available to prospective buyers.
February 25 commemorates the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution that ousted the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.—father of incumbent President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.—and installed Corazon Aquino, widow of slain senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., to the Philippine presidency.
Several groups from different sectors have staged protests in commemoration of the occasion on Wednesday, as well as the Trillion Peso March against corruption in government.
