Marcos inspects processing center for homeless in Liloan

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday launched the Pag-Abot Processing Center in Liloan, Cebu as his administration reaffirms the government’s commitment to assist people living on the streets by providing their basic needs. 

Marcos inspected the Pag-Abot Processing Center and visited its clinic, processing area for beneficiary assessment, profiling, biometrics, and clothing distribution, storage, and laundry area. He also inspected the kitchen and dining hall, administrative office, senior citizens’ room, isolation room, and prayer and activity areas.

Marcos also checked the second-floor facilities, including the child-minding and multi-purpose areas, the lactation room, the house parents’ room, the male, female, and family sleeping quarters, as well as the communal bathrooms for the beneficiaries.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has recorded over 600 homeless individuals in Cebu province, according to the Presidential Communications Office. 

The agency's program provides health services, food, clothing, psychosocial and livelihood support, temporary housing, and family reintegration to help beneficiaries achieve stable and dignified lives.

In close coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and local government units,  the DSWD is reaching out to families in street situations to ensure their inclusion in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and other social protection initiatives.

Those who welcomed the President include DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, Cebu 5th District Representative Vincent Franco ''Duke'' Frasco, Liloan Mayor Aljew Fernando Frasco, and Liloan Vice Mayor Margarita Frasco. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
