PNP logs 3.94% drop in crimes from Dec. 2025 to Jan. 2026
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has recorded a 3.94% dip in crimes from December 2025 to January 2026 and attributed it to intensified operations and improved community coordination.
In a statement, the PNP said focus crimes fell from 2,687 cases in December to 2,581 in January 2026.
Significant declines were logged in murder cases (319 to 284), physical injury (427 to 299), rape (516 to 400), and motorcycle theft (162 to 149).
The Police Region Office (PRO) 1 contributed to the positive trend with a 31.03% reduction in focus crimes.
In January, 14 regions successfully reduced crime, contributing to a nationwide case clearance rate of 93.22% and a solution efficiency of 70.24%.
Meanwhile, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) ranked the highest in both reducing crime and solving cases.
“These numbers show that mas mababa ang krimen at mas marami ang nalulutas na kaso. Ibig sabihin, gumagana ang ating pinaigting na operasyon at koordinasyon sa komunidad,” said PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

The PNP also recorded an 80.99% clearance rate and a 46.83% solution rate in murder cases, while physical injury cases logged a 95.99% clearance rate and a 79.26% solution rate.
Rape investigations have a 94.00% clearance rate with 24 pending cases, while theft cases have a 97.13% clearance rate and an 86.12% solution rate.
The PNP added that seven kidnapping cases were solved with an 85.71% efficiency rate.
Meanwhile, cybercrime investigations logged a 66.55% clearance rate and a 55.75% solution rate as authorities continue to intensify digital security measures. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
