BuCor relieves from post 2 superintendents, reassigns key officials

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Friday announced that it has relieved from post two superintendents and reassigned key officials to ensure efficiency and accountability.

In a statement, BuCor said Leyte Regional Prison Superintendent Ricardo Sespene Jr. and Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) head Marjorie Ann Sanidad were relieved from posts amid an ongoing investigation into their conduct.

Sespene will serve at the BuCor Land Control and Management Center Anti-Squatting Unit while Sanidad will be assigned at the New Bilibid Prison Hospital.

“The change of leadership aims to ensure that the correction facilities continues to uphold its twin-mandate of safekeeping and reformation while maintaining public trust and confidence,” BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang said.

Catapang said this was done to bolster BuCor’s effectiveness in managing correctional facilities and responding swiftly to emerging challenges. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
