Francis Leo Marcos has unlicensed security, expired firearm — NAPOLCOM
The nine alleged security escorts of vlogger Norman Mangusin, also known as Francis Leo Marcos, are not licensed practitioners, while a firearm registered under his name has already expired, the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) said Friday.
In a statement, NAPOLCOM vice chairperson and executive officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan said the Commission "received confirmation from the PNP Civil Security Group that all nine of Mangusin's 'security' escorts... are NOT licensed security practitioners."
He said they are "performing security functions for Mangusin illegally."
Aside from this, Calinisan also said that a certain "Francis Leo Antonio Marcos" has an expired Glock Pistol registered to his name.
"It expired last September 2017, and is therefore a loose firearm, and continuing to keep it constitutes the crime of unlawful possession of firearm," Calinisan said.
He said the NAPOLCOM will transmit the information to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to aid in the ongoing investigation and possible prosecution of Mangusin and his alleged cohorts.
"We will put a stop to Mangusin and all his fraudulent schemes. We will not allow any Filipino to be victimized by Mangusin ever again," Calinisan said.
GMA News Online is still seeking comment from Mangusin or his lawyer for his statement on the matter.
Mangusin was arrested Tuesday by the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in a hotel in Pasay City in connection with an unjust vexation case.
A bail of P120,000 was recommended.
Aside from this, authorities also noted Mangusin's alleged involvement in unauthorized use of a police uniform, as well as the reported use of multiple names, passports, and birth certificates.
Authorities also flagged the presence of unauthorized security personnel linked to the vlogger.
On Friday morning, Mangusin left Camp Crame in Quezon City for his transfer to Parañaque City jail following a commitment order from the court.
Earlier in the day, former senator and boxing icon Manny Pacquiao said he would file multiple complaints against Mangusin for allegedly spreading false information and deceiving the public. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
