Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando addresses alleged NLEX road rage
Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando on Monday addressed the issue of alleged road rage incident at the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) involving his convoy.
Fernando asked the public to “respect” the statements issued by the Malacañang and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) regarding the issue.
“May kumakalat na balita sa social media, nais kong linawin na ang issue na ito na sinasabing road rage ay malinaw nang nagpahayag na ang Malacañang tungkol dito at ang LTO. Irespeto na po natin ‘yun. Okay na po ‘yan,” he said at a flag ceremony.
(There is news circulating on social media, and I want to clarify that regarding this issue of road rage, Malacañang and the LTO have already issued clear statements about it. Let’s just respect that. It’s okay now.)
“Sa puntong ito, higit sa anumang negatibong balitang nagkalat sa social media, ang mas mahalaga sa akin ay ang iyong pagtitiwala at pagkilala sa aking pagkatao.”
(At this point, more than any negative news spreading on social media, what matters most to me is your trust and your recognition of my character.)
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier ordered Fernando to surrender the firearms under his name, his security escorts, and the vehicles involved in an alleged road rage incident at NLEX.
Meanwhile, the LTO has been tasked to investigate Fernando's alleged abuses on the expressway.
DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla earlier said he received reports that a Bulacan Capitol convoy blocked a presidential son at NLEX on the evening of February 21.
Malacañang already denied that one of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s sons was harassed at NLEX, and Remulla did not confirm this occurred.
However, Remulla said that he received a report of an alleged road rage incident that stemmed from Fernando’s abuse in using the expressway. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
