PCG promotes 641 officers in donning of ranks ceremony


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recognized the promotion of 641 officers during a simultaneous donning of ranks and oath-taking ceremony on Tuesday, March 3. 

The ceremonyheld at the Coast Guard Fleet Parade Ground was presided over by PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan. 

Among the promoted officers were those with ranks ranging from Captain and Commander to Lieutenant Commander, Lieutenant, and Lieutenant Junior Grade.

“A total of 641 officers have been promoted, 37 to Captain (CAPT), four to Commander (CDR), and 101 to Lieutenant Commander (LCDR). Additionally, 499 officers have advanced from Ensign (ENS) to Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTJG),” the PCG said in a statement. 

The Coast Guard said the donning of ranks is a tradition where new insignia are placed on the officers’ uniforms, symbolizing the Commandant’s trust in their leadership. 

“These promotions reflect the dedication, professional growth, and unwavering commitment to service demonstrated by the officers. As the PCG continues to expand its role in maritime safety and security, these leaders stand at the forefront of the organization’s mission,” the PCG said. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
