PNP to continue energy-saving measures amid Middle East tension
The Philippine National Police (PNP) will continue implementing energy-saving measures such as rationalized deployment and reduced non-essential travel in compliance with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to conserve energy resources.
In a statement, the PNP expressed its full support for Marcos’ energy conservation policy amid ongoing global oil price fluctuations.
The police force added that it has “long institutionalized prudent energy use across all its units as part of responsible resource management and operational discipline.”
“In light of current developments, these existing measures will be further sustained and optimized to contribute to broader national efforts aimed at maintaining economic stability,” the PNP said on Tuesday.
It stressed that police offices nationwide will continue implementing established energy-saving practices.
These include the rationalized deployment of personnel and vehicles, reduced non-essential travel, vehicle pooling when practicable, and improved operational planning – “all without compromising public safety and service delivery.”
“The PNP remains committed to supporting whole-of-government initiatives that protect both public welfare and economic resilience,” the PNP said.
“Through disciplined and efficient resource management, the organization will continue to do its part in ensuring stability while delivering responsive and reliable police service,” it added.
Earlier on Tuesday, Marcos directed government offices and agencies to find ways to conserve energy amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which are driving up global pump prices.
Although he assured that the country has sufficient oil stockpiles good for two months, the President said conserving energy can help ease the burden on consumers as fuel prices are expected to increase.
Marcos also encouraged the public to use mass transport to conserve energy resources. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
